Reward and Recognition

Reward and Recognition
Sarah Collins, Head of People Services explains why reward and recognition is such an important part of the Novus Way.

There are many factors that influence our initial decision to join a company - but many more that determine whether or not we stay.

Fundamentally, we all need to feel that we are fairly paid, have a degree of job security, and to be at comfort with both our colleagues and our working environment.

What is it that really makes the difference between a nice place to work and a great place to work?

As children, we learn and develop through encouragement and recognition for our efforts and achievements.  We are spurred on to try new things and push ourselves to achieve more - whether learning to walk, read, or swim that extra ten metres.

The principle of encouragement and recognition continues throughout our adults lives and into the workplace, where we are challenged to move out of our comfort zone to learn a new skill, work on a new project, or take on a new role.

We all need someone to believe in us, to show us what could be, to encourage us, and to recognise and reward our achievements.

In the work environment, we will all be able to recall occasions where our contributions and value to the business have been recognised by a team member, a peer, or a line manager.

How great is it for someone else to recognise and value what we do?

This week is a very special week for the Novus teams as we recognise some of the best contributions from the last year at our annual Excellence Awards.  All of our winners have consistently displayed commitment and passion in an exceptional way, living and breathing the Novus Way - values that flow through to everything we do as a business.

We are incredibly proud of the individuals and teams that will be officially recognised this week for being ambassadors of Novus, but also recognise the contribution that the wider Novus teams have made over the past year in delivering our most successful year to date against an ever-changing marketplace.

Recognising and rewarding individuals for their contribution costs very little in monetary terms, but has immeasurable value in relation to employee engagement and commitment within a business.
Is there a contribution you should be highlighting and recognising this week?

Congratulations to all of the Novus Excellence Awards winners!
